DONALDSON, IN – The Ancilla College Men's Soccer team, currently ranked #5 in the NJCAA, beat Jackson College in overtime Wednesday night, 3-2.
The Chargers started the game off slow and Jackson took advantage of it. Five minutes into the first half, the Jets put Ancilla behind for only the second time this year. It took the Chargers 30 minutes to respond as Yaret Regino tied the game.
In the second half of the game there was a defensive error that led to Jackson regaining the lead with 24 minutes left. With 10 minutes to play it would be Lee Nicholson who scored off a Brandon Duarte cross. Regulation play ended 2-2.
"It wasn't pretty but we got the win," said Coach Jacobs.
The Men's Soccer team finishes as the Michigan Community College Athletic Association Conference Champions as well as the Regional Regular Season Champions.
"It is a great feels as this is two years in a row for both feats, but we're not done," said Jacobs. "This team wants more and by more I mean the Regional Championship."
Ancilla will host the NJCAA Region XII Tournament on October 29th & 30th at Charger Fields. The Chargers are the #1 seed and will play at 12:00p.m. on the 29th.
