DONALDSON, IN – Ancilla Women's Basketball defeated Grand Rapids Community College at home in Charger Arena Wednesday night, 66-50. The win brings the teams current record to 10-6 overall and 3-2 in the MCCAA Conference.
The Chargers ended the first quarter tied with the Raiders. At the end of the half, Ancilla led by four. Ancilla Head Coach Tom Robbins commented, "Our defensive effort in the third quarter was really the deciding factor in the game for us."
Leading in scoring for Ancilla was Quaynika Merriweather who put up 20 points. Daitriona Bonds and Shelle Daniels also added to the Chargers winning night with 14 and 11 points respectively. Freshman Shae Daniels led in rebound stats with 10 followed by Karson Williams with seven.
Robbins remarked, "We were really able to shut them down in their half-court offense. Miranda Shepherd drawing three charge calls on their starting point guard was key as well."
The Lady Chargers will be on the road this Saturday as they head to Lansing Community College for another MCCAA Conference face off against the Lansing Stars. Game time is set for 1:00p.m.
