DONALDSON, IN – The Charger women's basketball team lost to Muskegon Community College on Wednesday night, 62-52.
In the first quarter, Muskegon was able to take the lead by 10 going 4-14 for the quarter. In the second quarter, Ancilla led with a 20-11 quarter score and were down by one at the half. In the second half, Muskegon once again pulled ahead with a 20-18 quarter and ended the game with a win by 10.
Leading for the Chargers was Quaynika Merriweather with 19 points followed by Brynda Krueger with 12 and Daitriona Bonds with eight. Donshelle Daniels led the team in rebounds with 13 followed by Krueger with eight.
"The first quarter shooting really hurt us. We went 1/19 from the field in the first which included 1/12 in the basket area," commented head coach Tom Robbins. "We turned the shooting around in the second quarter but our 52 point total was a reflection of our poor first quarter. Once again, though our defense was able to keep us close and provided us the opportunity to have a chance."
The Chargers will play home on Saturday against Kellogg Community College. Game time is set for 1:30p.m.
