Donaldson, IN ---- Visiting Bowling Green scored five consecutive goals to start the 3rd Quarter to springboard the Falcons past Ancilla 20-10 at Charger Field on Saturday.
The Chargers fall to 3-4 on the season, while BGSU goes to 3-1. The game was tied 7-7 at the half, before the Falcons outscored the Chargers 13-3 in the second half. Captain Blake Alexander led the Ancilla attack with 4 goals and one assist, while Stephen Johnston netted 3 goals and dished out 4 assists.
"You gotta give Bowling Green lots of credit in the way they started the 3rd quarter jumping out to a five goal lead," said Head Coach Brian Welch. "We couldn't recover after we gave them that big of a cushion, especially being shorthanded with some injuries at key positions. I told my guys after the game that I was very proud of the way they battled and that these are easy fixes to work on next week before another big game on Saturday. These next two weeks are big for us before we prepare for the District Tournament, so we will be dialed in to get back on track."
Anthony Vercelli, Elijah McMahon and Jessee Holt each scored a goal apiece to round out the scoring for the Chargers. Holt and fellow teammate Zach Schultz were 17 of 30 from the faceoff X, while defensemen Stevie Nelson lead Ancilla with 9 groundballs. Goalie Zayne Hartz had 14 saves on the day for the Chargers.
Ancilla will be back in action on Saturday, April 1 when they host the Saginaw Valley State Unviersity Cardinals at 1:00 pm.
