GREENTOWN, IN – The Ancilla College Volleyball team has signed a well traveled recruit to the program. Hannah Kelly (5'11") of Eastern Junior & Senior High School in Greentown, IN has signed her National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Letter of Intent to play for the Lady Chargers as a middle hitter/right side.
Eastern Athletic Director, Brad Wilson, complimented Hannah saying, "Hannah left an impression on me from our first meeting, she is a good person, very friendly, and an extremely hard worker. I know Hannah will be successful."
Kelly has played for three different high school volleyball teams over the last four years. In her sophomore year Kelly played for Ironwood Ridge High School in Oro Valley, Arizona. Her junior year she played for Noblesville High School in Noblesville, IN, and her senior year at Eastern High School in Greentown, Indiana. While at Eastern, she averaged 5.2 blocks and 5.5 kills per match. Kelly's club experience is varied, as well. She has spent time at Dynamo in Arizona and Moto in Indiana. She is currently playing with Civic in Indiana.
Kelly is an honor roll student, active in Key Club and Spanish Club, and a singer in her youth group worship team. Hannah Kelly received the Most Improved and Most Dedicated Player awards on her volleyball team this past season.
"Hannah is a model student athlete," mentioned Eastern High School coach Meredith Cipriano. "She has a good work ethic and a natural ability to lead, as well as a great attitude and willingness to adapt to change. She also brings great energy to the team."
While in Arizona, Kelly did volunteer work at GAP Ministries. GAP Ministries is an organization started by her aunt and uncle that helps under-privileged and abused children in the Tucson area. They maintain 12 homes and provide a Christian based life-style for the children living there so they can do better in school and succeed in life.
When asked what made Ancilla the right choice for her, Kelly replied, "It is a small atmosphere that I can excel in and then move on to a four-year institution to further my career. Getting to play Lady Charger volleyball is the icing on the cake."
While at Ancilla, Kelly plans to pursue a health science degree.
"I am looking forward to Hannah playing volleyball for Ancilla," started Ancilla coach Lana Singleton. "She will be a great addition to our college and our volleyball program. Hannah not only has height, but she jumps extremely well, I am very excited she will be joining fellow teammate Hayley Mavrick at the college level."
