ANDERSON, INDIANA – Mariah Miller, a senior at Anderson High School, recently signed her NJCAA Letter of Intent to play softball for Ancilla College in the 2013-2014 season.
Miller, a corner infielder, set the Anderson record for RBI in a season, finishing 2012 with 32 RBI. As a sophomore she was named First Team All-North Central Conference and was a Second Team All-Conference member last season, as well as an Honorable Mention All-Madison County team member. Miller has hit .339 over the last two seasons and has added a .424 slugging percentage to her resume, including slugging at a .488 clip last season. She is a four year letter winner in softball, a member of the A Club, involved in marching band, show choir band, wind ensemble, jazz ensemble, and was named All-State in 2010 in percussion ensemble.
"I really like the close-knit atmosphere. Ancilla is very small, and I like that," said Miller.
Mariah is the daughter of James and Jennifer Miller of Anderson and will pursue her degree in Criminal Justice while at Ancilla.
"Mariah has been a very solid varsity player for four years, anchoring our infield at both corners when needed," began Anderson coach Doug Holder. "She was also a power hitter in the middle of our lineup for at least two years."
"I'm excited that Mariah has joined the Ancilla softball family," started Ancilla coach Scott Reese. "She is a wonderful young lady who brings a consistent bat to our lineup and the ability to play first and third for us. I am looking forward to seeing her continued development as she joins our team next season."
