PLYMOUTH (IN) - The Marian University Plymouth Athletic Department would like to welcome Ted Hayden as the Interim Head Coach for the Men's Basketball program. Coach Hayden will assume Head Coach Brian Foster's responsibilities while Coach Foster is on leave, which include, but are not limited to, recruiting, scheduling, and on-court duties. "I am grateful for this opportunity and hope to continue what Coach Foster began in his first year at Marian Plymouth. As a program, we want to represent the school well, both in the classroom and competitively on the court."
Coach Hayden has nearly 20 years of experience in coaching basketball, primarily at the high school level, however, he was a Men's Assistant Coach at Oakland City University in the mid-1990s. His Head Coaching experience includes a stint at nearby John Glenn High School as the girls' Head Coach from 2019-2023, where he was named the 2021 Coach of the Year in the Northern Indiana Conference.
A graduate of Delta High School in Muncie, Indiana, Coach Hayden was a high school teammate of Purdue University Men's Basketball Coach Matt Painter, and Coach Painter had this to say about Coach Hayden, "I have been fortunate to call Ted Hayden a friend for more than 35 years. Over the years, I have watched him pour his heart into everything he does, whether it was coaching, mentoring others, or pursuing his own professional goals. Ted is one of the hardest working, most dedicated, and honest people I know. He is self-motivated, focused, and always tries to be successful while doing things the right way. Most importantly, he genuinely cares about people and is someone you can always count on. Again, I am proud to call Ted my friend."
