Softball Postseason Awards Announced

The end of every season can be bittersweet for many, but this week we turn our focus to awards. NJCAA Region 12 and the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) announced their all-region and all-conference awards this afternoon. Sophomore Kim Cummings' name appeared on several lists, with four total Chargers being mentioned among the teams.

Cummings, a graduate of Benton Central High School near Lafayette, was outstanding all season, both as a pitcher and as a hitter. Her play earned her All-NJCAA Region 12 honors. Additionally, she earned a spot on the All-MCCAA team that includes the best players from all three of the conference's divisions, and she was 1st Team All-Western Conference in the MCCAA. At the plate, Cummings posted a .475 batting average, she walloped 10 doubles and 3 home runs, and she drove in 19 runs. In the pitcher's circle, she started 15 of her 21 appearances, posting a 4.14 ERA in 71.0 innings, and she amassed 93 strikeouts, while winning 4 games.

Sophomore Morgan Fogle, Sophomore Cayla Beasley, and Freshman Abby Harmon were the other three Chargers named. All three earned Honorable Mention All-MCCAA Western Conference. Fogle is from Hicksville, Ohio, and she managed a pair of home runs herself while hitting .305. Beasley, from Mooresville, Indiana, hit .333 with 5 stolen bases. The rookie Harmon, from nearby New Carlisle, used her speed to steal 14 bases on the season.

Congratulations to all four ladies on your accomplishments!! The entire Marian Ancilla community is happy for your and proud of you!! Good luck to Sophomores Cummings, Fogle, and Beasley in your journey forward!!
