Saturday afternoon, the Marian University Ancilla Women's Basketball team traveled to Lansing to take on the LCC Stars in an MCCAA conference matchup. Over the past two seasons, Lansing has proven to be the top team in the division, and this year they might be even more complete of a team.

The Stars jumped out to a 9-0 lead within just a couple of minutes of the tip, then led the Chargers 24-7 after one quarter and never looked back. At halftime, it was 44-18 in favor of Lansing, with the scoreboard showing a 71-42 final at the end. The Chargers did bring some grit and competed for much of the second half, losing those 20 minutes by a 27-24 margin, but the first quarter/half prevented them from making much of a dent.

Sophomore guard Annika Davis led the Chargers in scoring with 14 points. She was 3-3 from 2-point range and 8-10 from the charity stripe. Freshman forward Sydney King played one of her better games of the season, scoring 5 points and playing solid rotation defense for Marian Ancilla.

The Chargers next take on Grand Rapids Community College tomorrow in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Tip time is set for 5:30p, with the men's game to follow. Please come out and support the ladies, if you are able!!
