PLYMOUTH (IN) - With the regular season winding down, the Marian University Ancilla Chargers stepped outside of conference play Thursday evening as they hosted the Community Christian Lions. The Chargers defeated the Lions earlier this season, 100-35, so it presented a great opportunity to play everyone and find a rhythm before their last two MCCAA matchups over the next five days. Marian Ancilla did just that, playing 12 ladies, with no one seeing more than 22 minutes of action, as they defeated Community Christian last night, 73-34.
Freshman Mari Mason had her best game of the season, as she was nearly perfect shooting it, scoring 15 points to lead the Chargers. She knocked down all 5 of her field goal attempts, 4 of which came from 3-point range, and she was 1-for-2 from the charity stripe. Sophomore forward Ga'Naysia White was once again key off the bench, as she was flying all over the floor in normal fashion, scoring 12 points, collecting 7 rebounds (4 offensive), and picking up 3 steals as well. Sophomore guard Annika Davis (13 points) also scored in double digits, while Sophomore forward Santana Eubanks (10 rebounds) hit double digits in ricochets recovered.
The women's team now has two games remaining on its regular season schedule before turning its attention to postseason play. Tomorrow, Saturday (2/21), they host Lake Michigan College in what will be Sophomore Day!! The game tips at 1:00p with the Sophomore introductions set to take place between the women's and men's games. Next Tuesday (2/24), the Chargers travel to Kellogg Community College, then the following Tuesday (3/3) they will begin their NJCAA Region 12 play at a location and against an opponent still TBD. Please come out and support the ladies, if you are able!!
