Friday midday was the opening of the 2026 bowling season for the Marian University Ancilla Chargers, as they hosted the Charger Invitational at Kingpin Lanes in Plymouth. The MUAC women's team showed a lot of promise and the potential for good things to come this year. Despite finishing in 4th place out of five teams with a team score of 1893 through the three traditional rounds, they continued to improve throughout the day to finish 3rd overall once the four "Baker" rounds were added into their score.
Additionally, four of the five Charger bowlers topped a score of 140 or better with at least one of their individual rounds, which suggests just a little more consistency could move them into the upper tier of conference opponents quickly. Freshman Allison Hohalek led the team with an overall score of 440, rolling rounds of 166, 151, and 123. Freshman Abby Harmon also reached the 400s, with her 136+138+157=431 total. Both Allison and Abby graduated from nearby New Prairie High School. Freshman Nathalie Grounds, added just recently to the roster, had the individual game high for MUAC, as she saved the best for last, bowling a 171 in her final game.
The Chargers will now hit the road and bowl each Friday for the next four weeks, before MCCAA conference and NJCAA Region 12 championships consume the schedule. Please come out and support the ladies, if you are able!!
