Women's Bowling at the MCCAA Conference Championship

LIVONIA (MI) - As the season begins to wind down, the Marian University Ancilla Women's Bowling team took part in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) Conference Championship Tournament on Friday afternoon at the Merri-Bowl Lanes. During the singles team portion of the event, the Chargers bowled a collective 1955, besting their top score of the season by 11 pins and finishing 8th of the 10 teams in attendance.

Earlier in the week, Freshman Allison Hohalek was named to the MCCAA Western Conference All-Freshman Team, and Friday she continued her strong play by bowling a single game season high of 218 during the second round of the singles competition. She finished with a 3-round score of 466, placing her in 13th of the 57 eligible female bowlers.

Fellow Freshman Nathalie Grounds, who has already participated in both Soccer and Softball at Marian Ancilla this past Fall, has shown glimpses of great lane work this Winter. Friday, she set personal bests with a single game score of 210 during the second round of the singles competition, and she rolled a 474 3-round best, placing her in 11th of the 57 women's bowlers.

Congratulations to the Women's Bowling team on a great day and strong improvement!! The ladies will travel to Lansing (MI) and the Royal Scot Lanes on Friday (2/20) for the NJCAA Region 12 Championship. Please come out and support the team, if you are able!! Good luck, ladies!!
