Saturday afternoon marked "Sophomore Day" for the Marian University Ancilla Women's Soccer team, and the Chargers responded from a 2-goal deficit at halftime against Alpena Community College to win for their Sophomores, 4-3.
Early on it looked bleak, as the Lumberjacks scored their final goal with a handful of minutes remaining before halftime and led 3-1. Then, about 15 minutes into the second half, the Chargers got more aggressive on offense and stingier on defense, rallying behind a trio of goals in the last half to escape with a 4-3 victory.
Sophomore Sinai Aguilar scored the lone first half goal for Marian Ancilla to tie the game at 1-1 in the 19th minute. But the second half belonged to Freshman Aubrey Rack, who scored a pair of goals within just a couple minutes of each other to knot the match at 3-3. The second goal was assisted by Aguilar. With less than 20 minutes remaining in the contest, Freshman Goalkeeper Reagan Kooy was able to find Freshman LaNiceon Holman for the final tally, as the navy & gold won for the second time in 10 days.
The Marian Ancilla community would like to give a special thank you to Sophomores Sinai Aguilar, Lucy Lillis, and Madison Lowe for their time and effort committed to the Women's Soccer program this season. We wish you the best in your future endeavors!!
The Women's Soccer team has just three regular season matches remaining, but none until they visit Jackson College next Wednesday. Thank you for coming out and supporting these ladies!!
