The Marian University Ancilla Charger Volleyball team opened its 2025-26 season with a 3-0 victory over Andrews University early Thursday morning. With August 21st marking the first day NJCAA teams are eligible to begin official competition, the Chargers hosted the first game in the country, welcoming the Cardinals for a 12:30 a.m. start time. While the hours were odd, the crowd was great, and it was a good start to the season for the volleyballers.

The Chargers utilized a combination of strong hitting (.270 as a team), strong serving throughout the match (10 aces over three sets), and they were fairly clean with their passing and setting each set. Even during a third set where they found themselves down 6 points, they were able to come back behind two long serving rallies, finishing the match with set scores of 25-12, 25-13, and 25-19.

The Chargers are not home again until September 11th, but they play at Bethel University tonight in a tri-match with Bethel's Junior Varsity team and Dayspring Bible College out of Mundelein, Illinois.
