Men Get Gift; Score Late to Win

The Charger Men's Soccer team took to the road Wednesday, as they traveled to Owens Community College for an afternoon match against the Express. It was a back & forth contest, but the Chargers found enough energy and had a big score late to pull out the 3-2 win.

Owens got on the scoreboard early, taking a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute. About 10 minutes after that, the Express helped the Chargers by accidentally scoring an own goral, knotting the match at 1 goal apiece. The teams remained tied heading into intermission.

Shortly after the halftime break, Freshman Angel Rojas delivered a pass to Sophomore Matt Polk Jr., and Polk delivered with a goal to put the Chargers up 2-1. But Owens responded approximately 10 minutes later, and it was suddenly 2-2.

With only a few minutes remaining, Marian Ancilla was back on attack, as Polk Jr. again found the back of the net on an assist from Sophomore Yeffreys Quintanilla. The game-winning goal was Polk's 5th over the past two matches!!

The Men's Soccer team is back in action tomorrow, when they host Alpena Community College in a 3:00p start. The match is a part of Family Weekend on the MUAC campus, plus the Chargers will celebrate Sophomore Day as part of a double-header with the women's team who plays before them. Please come out and support both teams, if you are able!!
