The Marian University Ancilla Women's Basketball team got their season underway Saturday afternoon, as they hosted Delta College in a 1:00p tipoff. The Chargers and Pioneers played a tight first half, as MUAC led Delta by just a 33-30 margin at the intermission. But the 3rd quarter saw the Chargers extend their lead to 11 points by the period's final buzzer, before ultimately knocking down free throws in the 4th quarter and outlasting the Pioneers, 72-58.

The game was won at the free throw line, where Marian Ancilla made 25 of 32 tosses, while the Pioneers were just 10-24 from the charity stripe. Additionally, the Chargers assisted on 18 of their 21 field goals throughout the game, showing a great willingness to share the basketball.

The reigning MCCAA Western Conference Freshman of the Year, Sophomore forward Santana Eubanks, led the way for MUAC with 21 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals. Fellow Sophomores Aaliyah Keil (18 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds, 2 steals) and Annika Davis (16 points, 4 rebounds) were outstanding as well, as the Chargers moved to 1-0 on the young season.

The Women's Basketball team returns to action tomorrow, Wednesday, when they head to South Suburban College for a women's/men's double-header. The ladies tip off at 6:00p ET/5:00p CT, with the men to follow. Good luck to both teams, and please come out and support the Chargers, if you are able!!
