Women Begin 2026 With Win

The Marian University Ancilla Women's Basketball team began the 2026 portion of their season the same way they finished 2025...with a win. The ladies traveled to the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Saturday afternoon, where they escaped with a 71-62 victory. Escaped is the key word, as the Chargers led by as many as 28 points late in the 3rd quarter then had to hold off the Chaparrals' big run down the stretch. Marian Ancilla was limited to just 3-18 shooting from long range and 14-28 from the charity stripe, both well below their season numbers.

Sophomore guard Annika Davis posted a double-double to lead the Chargers. Davis scored 24 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and added 2 assists to her effort. Sophomore guard Aaliyah Keil was efficient from the field (7-9 FGs), scoring 17 points, plus she limited the Chaparrals' leading scorer for much of the game defensively.

Sophomore guard Ciara Bonner nearly posted her own double-double, scoring 9 points and pulling down 10 boards, plus she found teammates for scores on 4 other occasions. Sophomore forward Ga'Naysia White came up big off the bench, especially in the first half, collecting 7 rebounds, 3 of which came at the offensive end of the floor.

The Women's Basketball team is back in action twice this week, as school restarts today. Tomorrow (Tuesday 1/6), the Chargers host Community Christian College out of Michigan at 5:30p at the LifePlex, then they turn their attention to conference play Saturday when they head to Dowagiac, Michigan. There they will face the always tough Roadrunners of Southwestern Michigan College. Please come out and support the ladies, if you are able!!
