The Marian University Ancilla Women's Basketball team began their conference season Saturday afternoon with a trip to Dowagiac, Michigan, to face the Roadrunners of Southwestern Michigan College. It was a grind-it-out type of game, with the Chargers prevailing in the end, 50-44.

The Chargers struggled at times to score because of SMC's physical defense, shooting just 28% from the field and 22% from downtown, however, their own defense limited the Roadrunners to just 26% shooting and 6% from 3-point range, giving MUAC the edge at the end of the game.

Sophomore Santana Eubanks, "Miss Double-Double", contributed her 8th scoring/rebounding double-double of the year, and it was her 5th in a row, putting through 17 points and collecting 13 caroms. Sophomore Aaliyah Keil added 12 points, Sophomore Ciara Bonner tossed in 11 points, including three 3-pointers, while Sophomore Annika Davis scored all 8 of her points from the charity stripe, including knocking down several big free throws late in the 4th quarter.

The Chargers have a busy week this week as they head to Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan, for a 6:00p game this evening. They return home to host MCCAA conference foe Glen Oaks tomorrow at 5:30p at the LifePlex, then head to Lansing this Saturday for another big MCCAA matchup at 1:00p. Please come out and support these ladies, if and when you are able!!
