PLYMOUTH (IN) - The Marian University Ancilla Women's Basketball team is in the middle of a long stretch of games, and Wednesday & Thursday they hosted a pair of contests. Unfortunately for the Chargers, they split the pair, losing Wednesday and winning Thursday. Below is a brief look at each contest, with some highlights of the top performers in each.
2/4 vs. Southwestern Michigan (L 54-51): The Chargers struggled from the field early on in this one, and they headed to the locker room down 28-21 at the intermission. The second half saw Marian Ancilla with a much more aggressive attitude, and they fought back to take a 50-46 lead. However, the Roadrunners made a couple of big shots down the stretch, securing their victory.
Sophomore forward Santana Eubanks returned to the lineup and produced 16 points, 4 steals, and a pair of rebounds. Sophomore guard Annika Davis chipped in with 13 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists, while Sophomore guard Aaliyah Keil added 11 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals to the final tallies.
2/5 vs. Andrews (W 71-25): Last night, the Charger women faced the Andrews University Cardinals for the second time this season, controlling the tempo from beginning to end with great defense & rebounding, plus they had a couple of stretches where they hit multiple 3-pointers in a row.
Once again, Santana Eubanks led the way for the Chargers with 18 points. She also managed 8 rebounds and a pair of steals, and she was the only player in double figures for either team (Annika Davis & Aaliyah Keil sat out this one to rest). Sophomore post Torie Davis scored a career high 8 points, while Freshman forward Emma Nelson continued her strong play with 7 points and 5 rebounds.
The Chargers finish their busiest stretch of the year tomorrow (2/7), with a road contest that has them headed to Glen Oaks Community College. That game is set to tip at 1:00 p.m. Please come out and support the ladies, if you are able!!
