PLYMOUTH (IN) - The 2025-2026 season has seen a number of different things for the Marian University Ancilla Women's Basketball team, but one thing that has been consistent has been their defense. Saturday afternoon, in an MCCAA matchup against Lake Michigan College, the Chargers held the Red Hawks to just 2 points in the second quarter, on their way to a 54-37 conference victory that moved them into a tie for 3rd Place in the Western Division.
It was also Sophomore Day, and the Sophomores stepped up, producing about 85% of the team's points, rebounds, assists, steals, etc. Sophomore guard Annika Davis has become "Miss 3rd Quarter" during the 2026 portion of the season, and much like she did when the two teams played a few weeks ago in Benton Harbor, she picked up her play in the third period. On the game, Davis scored 18 points, she was 4-8 from long range, plus she added 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.
"Miss Double-Double", Sophomore forward Santana Eubanks, scored 10 points and collected 11 rebounds in the crucial late-season victory. Sophomore guard Aaliyah Keil contributed 8 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and her typically great on-ball defense, while fellow Sophomore guard Ciara Bonner chipped in 6 points and 7 rebounds, knocking down a big 3-pointer early in the 3rd period to help the Chargers separate. Freshman forward Emma Nelson, making the rare appearance from the bench, scored 6 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, and blocked 3 shots to lead the reserves.
The entire Marian University Ancilla community would like to thank Annika, Santana, Aaliyah, Ciara, Ga'Naysia White, Audri Prater, Torie Davis, and Kaelyn Ortiz-Vaudt for there work both on and off the court while members of the Charger family. It is greatly appreciated and does not go overlooked!!
As for the remainder of the season, the Chargers will travel to Kellogg Community College on Tuesday for one final MCCAA regular season conference game. Tip time is set for 5:30p. Once that is complete, they should know where they stand in regard to postseason play. They will have a game on Tuesday, March 3rd, but the location and opponent are still TBD. They could travel to Southwestern Michigan or Grand Rapids, and there is a chance they could host a game as well. From that point, they must win to advance each round. Please come out and support these leads, if you are able!!
