The Marian University Ancilla Volleyball team dropped a pair of matches last week against tough opponents, falling to 8-8 on the season and just 1-4 in the MCCAA. Fortunately for the Chargers, however, they still have one more match in the first lap through the conference, then they play all six rivals one more time.
Last Tuesday, the Chargers fell at Kalamazoo Valley by a 3-sets-to-0 score. Freshmen Adalynn Garza and Torri Coons each had a pair of service aces, while Freshman Anna Christopher led the way with 10 digs on the evening.
Last Thursday, Marian Ancilla hosted an always good Lansing squad, again falling 3-0, but playing them much closer. The Chargers scored 20 or more in each of the three sets, nearly overcoming adversity and taking the middle set, before falling in that one, 28-26. This time, Anna Christopher topped the team in service aces (3) and assists (25), while Freshman Alex Sutherlin led the team in kills (11) and Freshman Miranda Woodard had 5 total blocks for scores.
The Chargers have four matches this week, so please come out and support the ladies, if you are able. Tuesday, they host Kellogg (4-1 in MCCAA play), while Thursday they travel to Southwestern Michigan (5-0 in MCCAA play). Both of those matches begin at 6:30p. Friday, they head to Berrien Springs, Michigan, to play Southwestern Adventist out of Texas, then they take on host Andrews University. Start times for Friday are 1:00p and approximately 3:00p. Good luck, ladies!!
