Saturday afternoon, in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, the Marian University Ancilla Men's Basketball team played two different halves of basketball against the College of DuPage. The first half saw the Chargers trailing 49-23 by the halftime break, but in the second half, those same Chargers ended up outscoring the Chaparrals 59-52. The final outcome had the College of DuPage on top, however, 101-82.
Marian Ancilla nearly had all five starters score in double figures, but the rebounding battle once again went to the opponent, with the Chaparrals out-rebounding the Chargers, 44-21. Freshman guard Omari Evans led the navy & gold with 20 points, plus he handed out 5 assists. Freshman guard Cristian Webster and Sophomore guard Kenneth Grant each scored 15 points, while Sophomore forward Michael Johnson Jr. added 14 points. Webster led the team with 6 assists, and Grant led the team with 6 total rebounds.
The Chargers will play two more games this week, with a great opportunity tomorrow night as they host Community Christian College at the LifePlex at approximately 7:30p (following the women's game). Saturday, the men head to Dowagiac, Michigan, to take on the Southwestern Michigan Roadrunners...typically a strong opponent. Please come out and support the men's team, if you are able!!
