Tuesday night, the Marian University Ancilla Men's Basketball team battled an always worthy Community Christian College program out of Detroit. Despite their best effort, the Chargers struggled to knock down shots from all three levels, eventually falling to the Lions, 82-65.
The Chargers were inconsistent from all over the floor, shooting just 29% from 2-point range, 30% from 3-point range, and 60% from the charity stripe. Sophomore Kenneth Grant did manage to bury 6 of his 17 3-point attempts, plus he added another basket and a free throw for 21 points to lead Marian Ancilla. Freshman Omari Evans, who has topped 20 points 5 times in the last 8 games, contributed an even 20 points, while Sophomore Michael Johnson Jr. added a solid double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds in defeat.
The Men's Basketball team will next travel to Southwestern Michigan College in Dowagiac, Michigan, this Saturday, as they open their 2026 MCCAA slate of games. The Chargers will be part of a double-header with the Women's team, so please come out and support the Chargers, if you are able!! The Women begin play at 1:00p, with the Men's contest to follow at approximately 3:00p.
