Evans Pours in 35, but Chargers Fall

Saturday afternoon, at Southwestern Michigan College, the Marian University Ancilla Men's Basketball team began their 2025-2026 MCCAA play with a tough game against the Roadrunners. The first half saw a lot of offense and back-and-forth, with the Chargers trailing by just a 47-44 margin at the intermission, but the second half belonged to SMC, as they stretched out the lead for a 91-75 victory.

Freshman guard Omari Evans continued his strong play this season, pouring in 35 points on 12-18 shooting from the field, 4-7 accuracy from downtown, and a 7-9 effort from the free throw stripe. The 6-1 guard added 3 rebounds, a pair of assists, and a steal to his tally on the day. Freshman Cristian Webster was the only other Charger to hit double digits, as he scored 18 points himself, while pulling down 7 rebounds and handing out 3 assists.

The Men's Basketball team is back in action tonight, when they head to Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan, for an 8:00p tipoff. They return tomorrow to the LifePlex in Plymouth for a 7:30p start against the Vikings of Glen Oaks in an MCCAA matchup, then they travel to Lansing Community College Saturday for another MCCAA showdown at 3:00p. Please come out and support the Chargers, if you are able!!
