PLYMOUTH (IN) - Trailing by 10 points with a little over a minute to go in the game, the scrappy Marian University Ancilla Men's Basketball team forced a stop and a couple of turnovers to give themselves an opportunity to tie in the final possession of the game, but in the end, they couldn't equal the Kellogg Bruins, falling 104-101 yesterday afternoon.

The game was back & forth throughout, and the Chargers also made a strong run to end the first half, entering the locker room up 54-53. But a series of empty possessions late in the second half helped the Bruins stretch their lead to 10, which ended up being just enough on Saturday afternoon.

Once again, offense was not a problem for the Chargers, as they placed 5 players in double figures, with 2 others having 8 points each. Freshman guard Omari Evans led the navy & gold with 22 points, plus he added 6 assists, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals. Freshman wing Kayden English played one of his best games of the season, and he was a handful down the stretch for the Bruins. English posted a line of 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists, but it was his all-around playmaking for the entire team that stood out.

Sophomore Michael Johnson Jr. added 17 points, including a hot-shooting 5-7 effort from long range, while Freshman forward A'Marien Page scored 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in the defeat.

Despite the loss, a highlight of the afternoon was Sophomore guard Kenneth Grant knocking down 5 triples from distance, giving him 101 3-pointers made on the season. This ties the Charger single season record, ironically held by Head Coach Brian Foster. With 1 more made 3-pointer this coming week, Grant can sit alone atop that list. Congratulations Kenneth on a great season thus far! The MUAC community is proud of you and happy for you!!

The Men's Basketball team is back in action tomorrow evening when they host Glen Oaks Community College in another MCCAA tilt. This game has been rescheduled 3 times due to weather, so hopefully there are no more delays. This Wednesday, the men host Southwestern Michigan College, and next Saturday they travel to Glen Oaks. Please come out and support these young men, if you are able!!
