Record Set, But Skid Continues

PLYMOUTH (IN) - Monday evening, in a game against the Glen Oaks Vikings that was originally schedule for January 14th, the Marian University Ancilla Men's basketball team saw a record set, but they also struggled to put an end to their losing streak, with it now extending to 11 games following the 104-73 defeat at the hands of those very Vikings.

The highlight of the night came with 13:11 remaining in the first half, as Sophomore guard Kenneth Grant splashed home his first 3-pointer of the night. This marked the 102nd time he has made a long range shot this season, passing Head Coach Brian Foster for the single season lead in made 3-pointers. Grant finished with 10 points and 4 rebounds on the night. He made 2 additional 3-pointers, so the record now stands at 104 with 7 games remaining in his MUAC career. Congratulations, Kenneth!! The Entire MUAC community is proud of you!!

As for the rest of the game, the Chargers once again got out-rebounded, this time by a 54-27 margin to a sizeable Vikings squad. Additionally, it was tough for Marian Ancilla to get clean looks, shooting just 33% from the field and 29% from outside. Freshman Cristian Webster led the Chargers in scoring with 16 points, plus he added 3 rebounds and a pair of assists. Freshmen Omari Evans (15 points) and A'Marien Page (12 points) joined Webster & Grant in double figures, plus Page nearly posted a double-double with his 9 rebounds. Freshman Shawn Donaldson was in the giving mood, handing out a team high 7 assists.

The Chargers now turn their focus to tomorrow, Wednesday (2/4), as they host Southwestern Michigan College in a rematch from January. The game will be played at the LifePlex in Plymouth, with the tip time at approximately 7:30p. Please come out and support the Chargers, if you are able!!
